FUE Zaria Strengthens Security Collaboration with NSA, NSSRCC

The Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUE Zaria), on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the National Headquarters of the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC) in Abuja, as part of efforts to enhance safety and security on its campus.

The University delegation was led by the Acting Registrar, Malam Shehu Iya Sa’idu, and was received by the Commander of the NSSRCC, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Emmanuel Ocheja, alongside members of his management team. Discussions during the visit focused on strengthening security architecture and response mechanisms at FUE Zaria.

The visit followed an earlier request by the University to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), headed by Malam Nuhu Ribadu, seeking support to improve security infrastructure and emergency response systems within the institution.

The engagement was a continuation of earlier efforts, recalling an assessment visit to the University on 28 February 2025 by the former Commander of the Centre, Dr. Rabi’u Muhammad, Esq., during which the institution’s security strengths and challenges were thoroughly evaluated.

The latest visit, conducted at the directive of the National Security Adviser, aimed to consolidate deliberations and advance collaborative efforts toward the implementation of agreed security measures, including the provision of essential security and surveillance facilities.

The Federal University of Education, Zaria, reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and secure learning environment for students, staff, and the wider university community through sustained collaboration with relevant security agencies and stakeholders.

Members of the University delegation included the Acting Bursar, Alhaji Muhammad Kabiru Aliyu; the Acting Director of Procurement, Malam Abdullahi Maiwada; Barrister M. S. Abubakar, Acting Director of Security Affairs, Mal. Halilu Hassan; and the Chief Security Officer, SP Haruna Bello (Rtd.).
