FUL Vice-Chancellor Advocates for 100% Student Enrollment in NELFUND Scheme

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has called for more sensitization to ensure a significant increase in student enrollment in the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme, urging sustained and intensified awareness efforts across the institution. 

Professor Ibileye made the remarks on Friday, March 27, 2026, while receiving the FUL NELFund Ambassador, Comrade Omomeji Olanrewaju Dada (popularly called Archbishop), during a courtesy visit to his office.

“I am impressed with the rising figures,” the Vice-Chancellor stated, “but who says all students of this University cannot become beneficiaries of the NELFund student loan scheme?” Professor Ibileye praised the Federal Government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the laudable initiative, reaffirming the University’s commitment to supporting the programme.

The Vice-Chancellor equally commended the initiative and efforts of the Ambassador and assured him of the institution’s readiness, particularly through its ICT Directorate, to enhance the enrollment rate and ensure that more students of the University benefit from the scheme.

During the meeting, the NELFUND Ambassador, an alumnus of the University who graduated from the Department of History and International Studies and served as SUG Provost Marshal (2024/2025), briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the ongoing sensitization campaign across the University.

In his presentation, the Ambassador expressed appreciation to the University Management for their support and opportunity to serve his alma mater in this capacity and congratulated the new Vice-Chancellor on his appointment. He highlighted some of the challenges encountered during the course of the sensitization exercise and appealed for increased institutional support to expand the initiative.

“As a beneficiary of the scheme, I have moved from class to class and from faculty to faculty, sensitizing students and guiding them on how to access the loan.
