FULafia Partners with Trekk Transport Services to Introduce Scooter Motorcycles for Inter-Campus Transportation

In response to the challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government, the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) is set to launch an innovative mode of inter-campus transportation using scooter motorcycles. This initiative, undertaken in partnership with Trekk Transport Services, seeks to provide a practical solution to the transportation needs of the academic community.

Scooter motorcycles are lightweight motor vehicles equipped with a seat mounted over the engine and a footboard for resting the feet. They have gained popularity for personal transportation due to their affordability, ease of operation, and convenience in parking and storage.

The decision to introduce scooters as a mode of transportation within FULafia was formally announced during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FULafia Consult Limited and Trekk Transport Services. Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, represented the University, while Mr. Victor Ugwu, Chief Executive Officer of Trekk Transport Services, signed on behalf of the transportation company.

Prof. Abdul Rahman emphasized that the University is committed to the well-being of its staff and students. He expressed gratitude to Trekk Transport Services for partnering with the University to introduce the scooter service, pledging FULafia's adherence to the terms of the agreement and calling on Trekk to do the same.

Mr. Victor Ugwu, CEO of Trekk Transport Services, reiterated his company's commitment to delivering an affordable and environmentally friendly transport system within the University. He praised the University's road network, which he believes will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the new transport system.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman and Mr. Victor Ugwu marked a significant milestone in this collaborative effort. The event was attended by key University officials, including the Registrar, Nuradeen Abdu; Bursar, Daniel Wilson; and Directors of FULafia Consult Ltd.

This partnership between FULafia and Trekk Transport Services aims to provide an economical and sustainable solution to the transportation needs of the FULafia academic community, enhancing mobility while reducing transportation costs.
