FULafia VC Prof Shehu Abdul Rahman Greets Christians at Easter

On behalf of the Management and Senate of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), I wish to congratulate the entire members of the Christian Community in our University as they join their brethren in other parts of the world to celebrate this year's Easter.

Easter is a Christian religious holiday, also known as a feast day, that celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

It is considered the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church. Easter is preceded by the season of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and penance.

Jesus’s death and resurrection symbolised his love and sacrifice for humanity and, hence, the period became associated with goodness.

I, therefore, encourage the Christian faithful to remember Jesus’s sacrifice with reverence, knowing that his love for humanity knows no bounds, and make a promise to love, forgive, and live a life full of peace.

I appeal to all of you to emulate the sacrifice and selflessness of Jesus Christ in your daily lives and, particularly, in your work and other activities so that together we can promote the vision, mission and core values of our University and achieve the targets we have set for ourselves to be among the best universities in Africa.

I urge you to continue to live together in peace, harmony and tolerance with one another in line with the preaching of Jesus Christ.

It is also important that we all use this period to pray, especially for God's intervention in the numerous challenges confronting our dear country.
