The Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) is set to celebrate its 8th convocation ceremony, where a total of 2,196 students were conferred degrees. Among them, 41 students achieved First Class honors, demonstrating exceptional academic performance. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, announced these figures during a press briefing held in Lokoja.

The convocation ceremony, which spans over seven days, marks a significant milestone for the university and its graduates. Prof. Akinwumi expressed pride in the accomplishments of the students, noting that their hard work and dedication have culminated in this achievement. He emphasized the importance of carrying forward the values learned at FUL—respect, integrity, innovation, dedication, and diligence—as they embark on their future endeavors.

The breakdown of the graduating class includes:

- First Degrees: 1,863 students

- Diplomas: 117 students

- Postgraduate Degrees: 216 students (including Ph.D., Master’s, and PGD)

In addition to celebrating academic achievements, the university plans to confer honorary degrees to distinguished individuals who have significantly contributed to its development and that of the nation.

Prof. Akinwumi also highlighted recent advancements at FUL, including the approval of new academic programs by the National University Commission (NUC), reflecting the institution's commitment to expanding educational opportunities. The upcoming academic session is set to commence on November 10, 2024, with an expected admission of 9,000 students across various programs.

This year's convocation not only recognizes the graduates' achievements but also sets a foundation for future academic excellence at FUL.
