FULOKOJA VC, Prof. Akinwumi Conferred with Distinguished Unilorin Alumnus Award

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, was today conferred with a Distinguished Alumnus Award by his alma mater, University of Ilorin, Nigeria (Unilorin), in recognition of his outstanding and uncommon commitment to the ideals of Nigeria's leading citadel of learning, popularly referred to as "Better By Far."

The prestigious award was presented to Professor Akinwumi on Wednesday, 16th July 2025, during the Award of Excellence and Investiture of Distinguished Alumni and Unilorin Ambassadors, in commemoration of the University's 50th anniversary, a historic event that drew many important personalities and dignitaries across different parts of the country, including notable alumni of the prestigious institution.

Other awardees honoured in the Distinguished Alumni Award category during the epoch-making event included Prof Emeritus Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar; Dr Sarah Alade, former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); Prof Rasheed Na’allah, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Abuja; and Prof Adenike Oladiji, current Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA); among others.
