FUNAAB Entrepreneurship Centre Director Meets Skill Leaders to Strengthen Training Programmes

The Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Sakiru Akinbode, has held an interactive meeting with Skill Leaders and facilitators as part of efforts to strengthen entrepreneurship training and operational efficiency at the Centre.

The Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Sakiru Akinbode, has held an interactive meeting with Skill Leaders and facilitators as part of efforts to strengthen entrepreneurship training and operational efficiency at the Centre.

The meeting, held on March 5, 2026, at the CENTS Board Room, brought together 16 Skill Leaders and 10 facilitators responsible for coordinating the Centre’s various vocational and entrepreneurial skills programmes.

The session provided an opportunity for the facilitators to formally interact with the newly appointed director while also discussing strategies to improve the activities of the Centre, particularly in supporting its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) initiatives. Participants also used the meeting to share ideas, raise concerns, and seek clarification on issues affecting the execution of their vocational responsibilities.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Akinbode said his mandate was to move the Centre forward while building on the achievements already recorded over the years.

The director, who previously served as Deputy Dean of the College of Entrepreneurial and Development Studies, urged Skill Leaders to continually upgrade their professional knowledge and competencies to remain competitive in the evolving entrepreneurial landscape.

He also highlighted the increasing importance of digital marketing in modern entrepreneurship and encouraged facilitators to adopt digital tools and online platforms to promote their training programmes and vocational services.

Prof. Akinbode acknowledged the progress recorded during the tenure of the immediate past director Emily Ayo-John, assuring participants that the current leadership would focus on consolidating and expanding the Centre’s existing achievements.

As part of efforts to improve accountability and performance, he announced plans to establish a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team that will oversee activities and ensure that the Centre’s programmes align with its mandate.

The director further stressed the importance of punctuality, diligence, and commitment among Skill Leaders and facilitators, noting that these values are essential for sustaining the Centre’s growth and impact.

The meeting ended with contributions from participants, who expressed readiness to support the director’s vision for advancing entrepreneurship development within the university.
