The Directorate of Works and Services at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on October 15, 2024, organized a send-forth ceremony to celebrate the exemplary leadership of its outgoing Director, Engr. Olawole Akinyele.

The Directorate of Works and Services at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on October 15, 2024, organized a send-forth ceremony to celebrate the exemplary leadership of its outgoing Director, Engr. Olawole Akinyele. The event marked the successful completion of his tenure and acknowledged his dedication to the University.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde praised Engr. Akinyele for his proactive and diligent approach to his responsibilities, noting that his work ethic significantly contributed to the Directorate's success. Prof. Kehinde emphasized the impact Engr. Akinyele had on the University and highlighted his calm and hardworking nature, which made collaboration within the team seamless. He also urged the staff to show the same support and camaraderie to the newly appointed Director.

The University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, and Acting Director of University Farms (DUFARMS), Dr. Emmanuel Bankole, echoed the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments, lauding Engr. Akinyele’s preparedness and dedication. Both acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Directorate in ensuring smooth university operations, attributing much of the success to Engr. Akinyele’s leadership.

Chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), FUNAAB Branch, Com. Samson Edviri, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) Chairman, Com. Olurotimi Fasunwon, also commended Engr. Akinyele for his equitable treatment of all staff, describing him as a devoted family man and a leader worthy of emulation.

In his farewell remarks, Engr. Akinyele expressed his gratitude to the University community and his colleagues for their unwavering support during his tenure. He pledged to continue contributing to the success of the institution and encouraged staff to maintain their strong cooperation with the Directorate's future leadership.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an Excellence Award to Engr. Akinyele, alongside gifts, including foodstuffs, presented by Dr. Emmanuel Bankole.
