The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO) has been chosen as one of 16 universities nationwide to participate in the Federal Government’s Rural Electrification Programme through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

On Friday, 6 February 2026, the University hosted a REA delegation led by Mr. David Ogunsawe for preliminary engagements, including an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, ahead of project implementation.
The initiative will deliver over one megawatt of solar-powered electricity, enhancing teaching, research, and residential facilities at the University. FUNATO has demonstrated full readiness by allocating land within its permanent site and securing strong support from the host community and the Onjo-in-Council.
This project represents a significant stride toward sustainable energy adoption and improved infrastructure, reinforcing FUNATO’s commitment to innovation, research excellence, and community partnership.
