FUOYE New CSO, Capt. Bitanis, Vows to Enhance Campus Security

Capt. Raymond Bitanis (Rtd), the newly appointed Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has affirmed his readiness to enhance campus security using his extensive military and academic security experience spanning over 25 years.

The newly appointed Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Capt. Raymond Bitanis (Rtd), has pledged to fortify the institution's security infrastructure, leveraging his extensive military and academic security experience. With over 25 years in the military and previous stints as CSO at Federal University Dutsen-ma and Bowen University, Capt. Bitanis brings a wealth of knowledge to Nigeria's fastest-growing university.

Capt. Bitanis expressed confidence in his ability to safeguard FUOYE against intruders and other security threats, highlighting his previous roles in counter-terrorism and the Federal Government's amnesty program. He praised FUOYE's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for providing superior security logistics, including five Hilux vans, a notable improvement from his past experiences.

In a conversation with FUOYE's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, Capt. Bitanis emphasized a proactive approach to campus security, focusing on collaboration with security agencies and avoiding the use of arms on campus. He assured that any arising security issues involving students would be handled with utmost care, aiming to prevent unnecessary escalation.

The CSO also lauded the quality of FUOYE's existing security personnel and committed to ongoing training and recruitment to ensure maximum service delivery. He underscored the importance of enhancing social support networks, implementing social insurance schemes, and improving mentorship, communication, and documentation within the security framework.

As Capt. Bitanis embarks on his mission to maintain and elevate the safety and peace at FUOYE, the university community remains optimistic about the new security measures and strategies he plans to implement.
