FUOYE Unveils Website for Innovation Hub, Strengthens Digital Transformation Drive

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has officially launched the website for its Innovation Hub, reinforcing the institution’s vision of becoming a leader in innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.

The platform, now live at https://innovation.fuoye.edu.ng/, is designed to serve as a strategic digital gateway into FUOYE’s innovation ecosystem.

Established in August 2024, the FUOYE Innovation Hub goes beyond being a physical facility. It represents a transformative mindset that positions the university as a convergence point for creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship. The hub is dedicated to nurturing an academic community where ideas are translated into tangible solutions for both local and global challenges.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, while speaking at the unveiling, described the website as “a forward-looking stride that aligns with FUOYE’s mission of integrating innovation into academic excellence.” She emphasized that the Innovation Hub and its online presence would provide a platform to showcase the ingenuity of students and staff, while also positioning FUOYE as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s knowledge-driven economy.

Echoing this, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation, and Linkages, Prof. J.O. Ogunwole, highlighted the hub’s role in connecting academia with industry and international partners. “The FUOYE Innovation Hub is designed to build bridges that strengthen research commercialization and promote economic development,” he stated.

The Director of Innovation and Digital Technology, Prof. O.S. Ayanda, stressed the importance of digital visibility in advancing FUOYE’s innovation agenda. He commended the ICT Directorate, under the leadership of Mr. Samson Durojaiye, for their technical expertise and dedication in actualizing the project.

The Innovation Hub is structured to play pivotal roles in four key areas: supporting student-led startups and entrepreneurship, fostering research commercialization, driving digital transformation projects across FUOYE and its host communities, and positioning the university as a global center for innovation and knowledge exchange.

Strategically located within the FUOYE campus, the hub offers mentorship, resources, and collaborative opportunities, enabling students and staff to develop prototypes, test solutions, and transform academic research into market-ready products. Already, students are exploring innovation pathways in technology, agriculture, health, and business through the hub’s programs.

Observers have described the launch of the website as a timely development, particularly in light of Nigeria’s urgent need for institutions that can bridge the gap between research and industry. The platform is expected to enhance global collaborations, giving FUOYE increased visibility among leading universities, research centers, and funding organizations.
