The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has released its admission requirements for the 2023/2024 academic session for both UTME and Direct Entry candidates. Prospective students must meet these requirements to secure a place at this prestigious institution, renowned for its focus on technological education and innovation.

Established in 1981, FUTA is one of Nigeria's leading universities of technology, dedicated to advancing the nation's technological capabilities. The university's motto, "Technology for Self Reliance," underscores its commitment to producing graduates equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge.

UTME candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for admission to FUTA:

  1. O’Level Requirements: Candidates must have at least a Credit pass (C) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in their O’level results (WASSCE/NECO or equivalent).
  2. First Choice Institution: Candidates must select FUTA as their first choice during JAMB registration.
  3. JAMB UTME Score: A minimum score of 180 in the JAMB UTME is required.
  4. Post UTME Screening: Candidates must purchase and pass the FUTA post UTME form and screening process.
  5. Subject Combination: Correct subject combinations in JAMB are crucial. For FUTA, this includes English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

FUTA accepts results from up to two sittings, allowing candidates to combine results from different examinations such as WAEC and NECO.

Direct Entry candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. ND/Equivalent: Candidates must possess an ND at Upper Credit Level or an equivalent qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
  2. A-Level Requirements: Alternatively, candidates can have good passes at the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or its equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

Direct Entry candidates are admitted directly into the 200 level.

Candidates who are awaiting their O’Level results can still apply for admission. However, they must upload their results as soon as they become available.

It is essential for candidates to choose the correct subject combinations during their JAMB registration to be considered for admission to FUTA.

FUTA does not accept candidates who select the institution as their second choice, regardless of their JAMB scores.
