The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has announced the temporary closure of its South Gate vehicular access road to allow for ongoing construction activities at the entrance of the gate.

According to a notice issued by the Director of Physical Planning, Engr. Oladeji F. Boyinbode, FNSE, the closure takes effect from Thursday, July 16, 2026, and is necessary to facilitate the installation of overhead beam formworks across the South Gate entrance.

During the period of the closure, vehicular movement through the South Gate will be suspended, while pedestrian access will remain open.

Members of the University community, visitors, and other stakeholders have been advised to use the North Gate and West Gate for vehicular entry and exit until the South Gate access road is reopened.

The University also urged motorists and road users to cooperate with traffic management personnel to ensure smooth and orderly movement during the temporary arrangement.

FUTA management expressed regret over any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and appealed for the patience, understanding, and cooperation of staff, students, visitors, and other members of the University community.
