FUTMINNA Hosts Burkina Faso Diplomatic Delegation and Strengthens Scientific Cooperation

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), recently hosted a high-level delegation from the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Abuja. The visit aimed to deepen scientific, technological, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation attended a thesis defense ceremony held under the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) framework. Burkinabè scholar Mr. Aliou Gadiaga successfully defended his thesis on climate change and population dynamics.

The visit provided an opportunity for the university and the delegation to explore avenues for strengthening collaboration in research, science, and cultural exchange.

The Burkina Faso Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS Deputy Permanent Representative, His Excellency Pascal Gouba, commended the university's commitment to advancing research and innovation.

The WASCAL program, which supported Mr. Gadiaga's research, aims to build resilience to the impacts of climate change across West Africa. The program establishes doctoral schools across the subregion to train the next generation of African scientists and policymakers.
