The Student Union Government (SUG) of Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has issued an update regarding campus bike operations, following the temporary suspension of bike activities.

The Student Union Government (SUG) of Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has issued an update regarding campus bike operations, following the temporary suspension of bike activities.

In a collaborative effort, the SUG convened a joint meeting with the Dean of Students’ Affairs, the Commercial Committee, the Bike Men Association, and the Security Unit. The aim was to adopt a dialogue-based resolution to address students’ concerns while ensuring safety and order on campus.

Following extensive deliberations, the following measures have been approved for immediate implementation:

  • Passenger Limit: Bikes are now strictly limited to one passenger per ride. Carrying two passengers on a single bike is prohibited. This policy seeks to enhance road safety, reduce accidents, discourage reckless riding, and improve campus security.

  • Standardized Fares: A uniform fare structure has been established to ensure fairness and prevent overcharging. The approved rates are:

    • School Gate → Any Faculty (including SIT): ₦200 per person
    • School Gate → Hostel: ₦300 per person
    • Hostel → Any Faculty: ₦200 per person

All bike operators on campus are expected to comply with these fares and regulations.

Students are advised to report any violations of the one-passenger rule, overcharging, or misconduct by bike operators to the Director of Welfare or any member of the SUG Executive Council for prompt action.

The SUG reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding student interests through dialogue, diplomacy, and firm enforcement, emphasizing that the cooperation of the student body is essential for the successful implementation of these measures.
