Gombe Governor Justifies 120% Tuition Fee Hike at Gombe State University

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has defended the recent 120% tuition fee increase at Gombe State University (GSU), stating that it is necessary to maintain and enhance the institution's quality of education.

Yahaya made this statement during the swearing-in ceremony for the governing councils of higher institutions, state-owned company boards, and pilgrimage boards at the Government House Banquet Hall.

The governor urged stakeholders to support the decision, emphasizing the need for sustainable funding to ensure the university's continued growth and development. However, the move has been met with resistance from some quarters, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), which has given the university's management an ultimatum to reverse the fee increase .
