Gombe State University Acting Vice-Chancellor Attends UK High Commissioner’s Dinner

Gombe State University’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, participated in an exclusive dinner hosted by the United Kingdom High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Mr. Richard Montgomery. The event, held on Friday, November 29, 2024, aimed to foster academic collaborations and partnerships.  

The dinner brought together academic stakeholders to discuss opportunities for grants, scholarships, and international linkages. During the event, Professor Yauta engaged in discussions focused on enhancing GSU’s global academic profile.

His Excellency commended GSU for its academic potential, with four prestigious UK universities expressing interest in partnering with the institution. These universities include the University of St. Andrews, Solent University Southampton, University of Stirling, and Lancaster University.  

Additionally, three African universities—the University of Kigali (Rwanda), the University of Witwatersrand (Johannesburg), and the University of Cape Town (South Africa)—also indicated interest in collaborating with GSU.

These partnerships are set to provide opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, scholarships, and capacity-building programs, positioning GSU as a key player in global academia.  

Professor Yauta expressed gratitude to Mr. Montgomery for the platform and pledged GSU’s commitment to leveraging these collaborations to achieve academic excellence and contribute to global knowledge.
