Gombe State University VC Inspects Multi-Million Naira Projects; Mandates Quality and Timely Completion

The Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, yesterday conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing projects and operational facilities across various units of the University as part of efforts to ensure quality delivery and infrastructural development on campus.

The inspection tour covered several key projects, including the construction site of a 500-seater auditorium, twin lecture theatres for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and additional lecture halls for the College of Medical Sciences.

The Vice Chancellor also visited the renovation site of the Department of Nursing Sciences, where significant upgrades are being undertaken to enhance the learning environment and align facilities with modern academic standards.

At the Department of Anatomy, Professor Yauta inspected newly installed solar energy facilities designed to improve power supply, promote sustainability, and support uninterrupted academic and research activities. He further assessed the installation of solar-powered street lighting across the campus, an initiative aimed at improving security, enhancing nighttime visibility, and reinforcing the University’s commitment to renewable energy solutions.

Accompanying the Vice Chancellor on the inspection were the Director of the Physical Planning Unit, the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, as well as Deans and Heads of Departments within the College. 

The Vice Chancellor received technical briefings from engineers and project supervisors at the various sites.

During the inspection, Professor Yauta charged the engineers and contractors to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, quality, and accountability in the execution of their assignments. He emphasized that the University administration remains committed to delivering durable and functional infrastructure that will serve both present and future generations of students and staff.

The Vice Chancellor reiterated that these projects form part of the University’s broader strategic plan to expand academic capacity, strengthen teaching and research infrastructure, and provide a conducive learning environment consistent with global best practices.
