Gov Bago Donates 500 Million Naira to Abdulkadir Kure University and Provides 86 Million Naira in Scholarships for First-Year Students
In a move to enhance educational opportunities in Niger State, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago presented a 500 million Naira cheque to Abdulkadir Kure University (AKU) and an additional 86 million Naira in scholarships for its pioneering students.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago took a significant step towards improving educational access in Niger State by presenting a cheque for 500 million Naira to Abdulkadir Kure University (AKU) on November 4, 2024. The presentation took place at the Government House and is part of the governor's commitment to fostering educational development within the state.
This funding, which was pledged during the university's maiden matriculation ceremony on October 26, 2024, is intended to support the establishment of six new faculties and the introduction of 30 new academic programs. The National Universities Commission (NUC) is expected to verify these programs by the end of November 2024, paving the way for their official launch.
In addition to the funding, Governor Bago also presented a cheque for 86 million Naira in scholarship funds, ensuring that each of the university's pioneering students receives one million Naira. This scholarship initiative underscores the governor's dedication to empowering youth and facilitating their access to higher education.
The Pro-Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University, Prof. Yahaya Kuta, received the cheque alongside other members of the university's management, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Eng. Prof. Tsado Jacob, and Registrar Dr. Garba Abdullahi, among others. Notably, several students from the university were present to accept the scholarship cheque on behalf of their fellow peers.
