Through his company, Black Titan Franchise Systems LLC, Perkins completed the transaction for about $18.5 million.

He told Essence, “I always wanted to become a part of this iconic brand. I just didn’t realize that one day I’d end up owning it

Perkins, who was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management and an honorary doctorate from Fayetteville State University, an HBCU.

He later went to Howard University, also an HBCU, where he earned his Master of Business Administration degree.

In 2004, he founded Perkins Management Company as he combined his business savvy with the passion for cooking he had ever since he was growing up with his mother and grandmother.

As the proprietor of Fuddruckers, Perkins is now confident in the long-term success of the “World’s Greatest Hamburgers”TM.

He is particularly committed to growing the company’s brand, which presently only has 92 locations, a significant decline from the nearly 500 locations it formerly had in the 1990s and early 2000s.

“Long-term, our plan will be to expand each of our franchise operations and add new domestic and foreign franchisees.

In order to expand and sustain the brand over time, it is also important to search for prospects for smart marketing partnerships, he said.
