IAUE Senior Staff Club Holds First Ever End of Year Party; Honours VC and Others
The Vice Chancellor of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Prof. Okechuku Onuchuku was on Wednesday December 13, 2023 honoured by the Executive Committee of the Senior Staff Club of IAUE for his contribution to the growth and development of the prestigious Club.

The event took place at the club during the first ever end of year party held by the Executive Committee of the club.
Others who also received the award of merit in recognition of their consistent patronage to the club are Dr Nelson Graves, Dr Charles Omuaru both of Faculty of Humanities, Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Prof Daniel Ogum of Faculty of Humanities, Department of English and Communication Art, also immediate past Dean of Postgraduate School, Prof Ugochukwu Agi of Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Management, Mr Wilson Ibokama, Deputy Registrar, Staff Training and Development and Mr Gordian Wakama, a Registry staff.
In his speech, the VC of IAUE Prof Okechukwu Onuchuku who was represented by the Director Administration VC's Office Dr Chinonye Ajie expressed appreciation to the President of the Club and his team for the facelift given to the place barely six months upon assumption of office. He emphasized that the look of the club has been a major handicap.
He applauded Dr Bieye Renner Briggs for running an inclusive and open door policy and observed that all the articulated projects embarked upon were all people oriented. While thanking him for the award, he promised that more staff accommodation would be built in future to boost the staff club.
The VC urged staff to patronise the club to relieve stress, boredom and domestic problems.

Earlier in his address the President of the Club Dr Bieye Renner Briggs noted that the party was a way of telling staff that they are loved, a way of thanking God for life and thanking the VC for providing an enabling environment for operation.
He informed that they were building lock up shops of six units to be completed soon, had fixed President's seat, bad fans, toilet facilities, installed cut out fuses, change over switches etc.
He remarked that the awards given to those who keep the club active and viable would be given annually.
While wishing all a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year ahead, he called for constructive criticisms to move the club forward stressing that he would continue to run a participatory Government.

Staff who spoke at the event lauded the President for accountability and transparency but called for the provision of ID cards to restrict unnecessary access to the club and reduction of prices of items sold at the club.
