The Director of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) Dr Goddey Wilson has been lauded by the University Vice Chancellor, Prof Onuchuku Okechuku for performing creditably well within the short period that he came on board, Myschoolnews report.

The Vice Chancellor of IAUE Professor Okechuku Onuchuku gave the commendation while declaring open the third International Annual Conference of the Centre for Continuing Education  with the theme "Continuing Education Technology and Sustainable Development in Contemporary Society" on Monday October 9, 2023 at St John's Campus.

The VC observed that the feat achieved within the time frame shows that he is the right person for the job. He also lauded him for continuity, carrying his predecessors along  and for upholding the three cardinal points of research, community service and teaching that universities are known for.

Professor Onuchuku who expressed his desire to make CCE technically driven especially in  this age of artificial intelligence, directed occupants of the ICT section of St John's Campus to vacate the premises to make way for his vision of expansion.

Also speaking the Registrar of IAUE Mr Donald Okogbaa while commending the Director for his achievements urged others to uplift and  make IAUE great with meaningful service. He used the forum to present certificates to privileged few who participated in the ICT workshop organized by the Centre.

In his goodwill speech, Professor Emmanuel Chisa Ibara (former CCE Director 2016) appreciated the transformation, academic effectiveness, research and infrastructural development witnessed. While hinting that he birthed the HND Conversion Programme, he expressed appreciation to the Director Dr Wilson for taking the Centre to greater heights and curving out an academic niche for himself.

In his speech, the immediate past Director, Professor Samuel Amaele thanked Professor Ibara for laying a solid foundation which he expanded and  congratulated the present Director for the progress recorded.

While thanking God for the third International Annual Conference, his first since he assumed office June 2, 2023, the Director of CCE Dr Goddey Wilson assured that the conference which will showcase the intellectual abilities of participants will better improve them to solve societal problems.

 He thanked his predecessors for initiating the conference which he is sustaining and thanked staff and students for working with him to achieve a common goal. He informed that the Centre has functional Admissions Office, Exams and Records unit to attend to the needs of students.

Dr Wilson pointed out that registration and payments are done online and that students can now  access their results anytime. He also said that the students wrote the CBT exams and did well arguing that they can compete favourably well with their counterparts elsewhere. 

The Director also stated that the Examination scheduled for Friday October 13, 2023 has been extended by three weeks to enable students prepare well. He urged those in final year and HND Conversion students to work hard so that they can apply to do their Masters degree next year January.

The event featured  keynote presentation by the Dean of Faculty of Humanities Professor Kingdom Eke Orji on " The Dynamics of a Technologically Driven Continuing Education for Sustainable Development in Contemporary Society: The Historical Imperatives.
