Igbinedion University, Okada, has unveiled plans for its 22nd Convocation Ceremony, scheduled to span five days, from November 26 to December 1, 2024.

The event, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, will feature a series of activities designed to celebrate academic excellence and achievements.

The series of events have been planned to hold as follows;

Day 1: Lecture and Cocktail Party

The opening ceremony on November 26 includes a Convocation Lecture delivered by Abigail Marshall Katung, the Lord Mayor of Leeds City, United Kingdom. Her lecture, titled "Education for National Impact," will take place at 10:00 AM in the university's Main Auditorium. This will be followed by a Cocktail Party at 4:00 PM in the Banquet Hall.

Day 2: Convocation Play

On November 27, the University Arts Theatre will host the Convocation Play titled "Okonkwo," starting at 10:00 AM.

Day 3: Second Lecture and First Degree Awards

November 29 will feature another Convocation Lecture by Mr. Chris Jibril Maiyaki, Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission. The highlight of the day will be the award of first degrees and prizes, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Day 4: Research-Focused Lecture and Higher Degree Awards

On November 30, Prof. Egla Lasuakenke, an international expert in digital education, will deliver a lecture titled "Interdisciplinarity and Transdisciplinary Research in a Digital Age" at the Main Auditorium. Later, the university will confer higher degrees and honorary awards.

Day 5: Thanksgiving Service

The ceremony will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service on December 1, at the Chapel of Grace, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH) Campus.

The events will also be streamed live via Zoom, ensuring participation for a wider audience
