Igbinedion University, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, PhD, FAS, celebrated its 8th professional oath-taking and induction ceremony for Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) graduates, Myschoolnews gathered.

During the event held at the university’s library conference hall, Professor Ezemonye proudly announced that the university has produced approximately 725 nurses who are practicing both within and outside the country.

Emphasising the significance of nursing in societal growth and healthcare development, Professor Ezemonye highlighted its pivotal role in ensuring patient safety and the overall functionality of the healthcare system. He also acknowledged that the university’s nursing programme has gained recognition for the exceptional performance of its graduates, leading to a growing demand for admission that the university is working tirelessly to meet.
 
The guest speaker, Professor Anthonia Chinweuba from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, delivered a keynote lecture titled “The Place of the Nurse in the Global Healthcare Delivery System,” which shed light on the vital role of nurses within the global healthcare delivery system.

Professor Chinweuba emphasised the significance of nurses as indispensable pillars of society, highlighting their tireless dedication, compassionate care, and invaluable contributions to the well-being of individuals and communities worldwide. Her address served as a powerful reminder of the profound impact that nurses have on patient outcomes, healthcare accessibility, and the overall functioning of healthcare systems.

Dr. Veronica Uge, the Head of the Department of Nursing Science, expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the academic program. She commended the Chancellor of the University, Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, CFR, for his visionary efforts in establishing a renowned institution that consistently produces graduates who excel worldwide.
 
The ceremony reached its climax with the induction of the nursing graduates into the profession. Dr. Udonte Emmauel, representing the Registrar/Secretary General of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, officiated the induction.
