JABU Celebrates 467 Graduates, 23 First-Class Honors in 14th Convocation Ceremony

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) is gearing up to host its 14th convocation ceremony, set to celebrate the graduation of 467 students from various departments. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olasebikan Fakolujo, revealed that among the graduates, 23 achieved the prestigious first-class honors.
During a press conference preceding the ceremony, Prof. Fakolujo highlighted the distribution of honors among the graduating class: 205 students earned second-class upper degrees, 172 secured second-class lower degrees, 65 graduated with third-class honors, and two students received a pass degree.

The best-graduating student for the 2022-2023 academic session is Mary Ayobami Ogunmola from the Department of Computer Science, achieving a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.89—an improvement from the previous year's best-graduating student with a CGPA of 4.87.
Prof. Fakolujo took the opportunity to advocate for the inclusion of private university students in the new student loan bill recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu. He emphasized that the loan arrangement should not be restricted to federal government-owned universities, urging the Federal Government to extend the benefits to private universities as well. The Vice Chancellor affirmed the significant role private universities play in contributing to skilled professionals and fostering innovation.

As part of the convocation ceremonies, JABU will confer honorary doctorate degrees on distinguished personalities, including Elder Abiola Popoola, Pastor Peter Ashade, and Elder Oluwadare Bello, for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.
The 14th Convocation lecture is scheduled to be delivered by Elder Abiola Popoola, Head of Faculty, CAC Leadership Academy, Lagos, on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the school auditorium. The convocation ceremony and the investiture of the Chancellor will take place on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the same venue.
