JAMB Exposes 21 Candidates with Fraudulent IJMB Results
The report also noted that five institutions were involved in these fraudulent recommendations. JAMB has stressed that all certificates must bear the signature of the Head of the institution, such as the Vice-Chancellor, Provost, or Rector.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that 21 candidates who submitted fake Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) results were recommended for the 2023 admissions process by various institutions. The discovery was detailed in a policy document obtained by our correspondent in Abuja.
JAMB reported that 12 of these candidates were recommended by Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. The board noted that these recommendations were not approved, emphasizing that certificate screening occurred only after registration. The issue highlights a significant lapse in the verification process.
The report also noted that five institutions were involved in these fraudulent recommendations. JAMB has stressed that all certificates must bear the signature of the Head of the institution, such as the Vice-Chancellor, Provost, or Rector.
In response to these issues, JAMB has emphasized the importance of the Nigerian Post-Secondary Education Data System verification platform, launched in 2021 to verify IJMB and JUPEB results. This platform was established following an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Federal Ministry of Education into result irregularities.
JAMB has stated that these measures are part of a broader effort to prevent fraudulent practices and ensure the integrity of the education sector. The board remains committed to taking decisive actions to uphold the standards of academic admissions and examinations in Nigeria.
