Kaduna State University Promotes Sustainability Through Tree Planting Campaign
Kaduna State University's Centre for Water and Environmental Development (CWED) organized a tree planting campaign in collaboration with first-year Geography students to promote sustainable development and environmental conservation.
The event, held on July 9, 2024, at the university's main campus, aimed to raise awareness about climate change, adaptation, and mitigation measures. CWED team lead, Lydia Saleh, highlighted the importance of sustainable development and management of water and environmental resources.
Dr. Aliyu Jaafar Abubakar, representative of the Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Sustainability Studies, emphasized the university's commitment to sustainability, stating that it is a universal responsibility that transcends all fields of study.

The campaign included a lecture by Dr. Joseph Ariko David, represented by Mal. Babati Abuhanifa, which focused on the importance of collective efforts to protect and preserve the natural environment. Staff and students then planted trees around the university, promoting afforestation and benefiting both the environment and the university community.
