Kashim Ibrahim University Matriculates 3,818 Students; Announces Upcoming Faculty of Engineering

Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU) Maiduguri, has held its Seventh Matriculation Ceremony for newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ceremony took place at the University Mini Sports Complex, where the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babagana Gutti, ably assisted by the Registrar, Mrs. Jallaba M. Sheikh, supervised the administration of the matriculation oath to Three Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighteen (3,818) newly admitted students.

In his matriculation address, Professor Gutti congratulated the students on securing admission into the University, describing it as a major milestone in their academic journey.

He emphasized the importance of moral uprightness, respect for constituted authority, and strict compliance with the rules and regulations guiding the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the University’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice and other forms of misconduct and social vices stressing that discipline remains key to academic excellence.

Responding to the Deputy speaker on need for engineering course in the University, Professor Gutti assured that, it will be introduced as soon as the Faculty of Engineering being constructed by NEDC is completed.

The Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the University Council, Senate, Management and staff thanked the visitor to the University and Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for his unwavering support towards the growth and development of the University.

The Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Right Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Engr. Abdullahi Musa Askira, encouraged the students to maintain high ethical standards, embrace positive lifestyles, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the University.

He reminded them that University education extends beyond classroom learning to include character building and social responsibility and called for the introduction of Engineering courses in the University.

Highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the matriculation oath by the University Registrar, Mrs. Jallaba M. Sheikh, who also advised the matriculating students to be good ambassadors of the University throughout their academic stay and beyond.
