Katsina State Government Reports No Contact from Kidnappers of Federal University Dutsin-Ma Students
Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, the state information commissioner, addressed the issue after allegations from the victims' relatives that the state government had not done enough to secure the release of the kidnapped students.
The Katsina State Government in Nigeria has stated that, as of 30 days after the kidnapping of five female students from Federal University Dutsin-Ma, no contact has been made by the suspected terrorists who carried out the abduction.
Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, the state information commissioner, addressed the issue after allegations from the victims' relatives that the state government had not done enough to secure the release of the kidnapped students.
The abduction took place on October 4, 2023, when terrorists raided a hostel in the university. Despite families paying approximately N2.5 million in ransom, the terrorists have not released the students. In fact, they have demanded an additional N2 million per head from the school management.

The state government, however, reported that they have not been contacted by the kidnappers and assured that efforts are underway to secure the safe release of the students.
