The Katsina State Government in Nigeria has stated that, as of 30 days after the kidnapping of five female students from Federal University Dutsin-Ma, no contact has been made by the suspected terrorists who carried out the abduction.

The abduction took place on October 4, 2023, when terrorists raided a hostel in the university. Despite families paying approximately N2.5 million in ransom, the terrorists have not released the students. In fact, they have demanded an additional N2 million per head from the school management.

The state government, however, reported that they have not been contacted by the kidnappers and assured that efforts are underway to secure the safe release of the students.
