Kwara Clears Salary Arrears for Teachers and Local Government Workers with N3 Billion

The Kwara State Government has successfully cleared all salary arrears owed to teachers under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and local government workers, which were inherited from the previous administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

According to a statement released by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Babatunde Toyin Abdulrasheed, the government allocated a total of N1,297,389,165.83 to settle the arrears owed to SUBEB teachers. Additionally, N1,622,673,992.12 was allocated to clear the arrears for local government workers.

Furthermore, the Kwara State Government has committed to boosting the purchasing power of workers by approving cash-backing for the implementation of 2022 promotions for teaching and non-teaching staff of SUBEB.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has consistently promised to clear all inherited salary and promotion arrears, expressed his commitment to fulfilling these pledges since taking office in 2019.

The settlement of these salary arrears marks the conclusion of a longstanding agitation for payment dating back to 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
