Kwara State University Appoints New Deputy Vice-Chancellors
The Governing Council of Kwara State University has officially appointed Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba and Professor Olubukola Christianah Dada as Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
The Governing Council of Kwara State University has officially appointed Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba and Professor Olubukola Christianah Dada as Deputy Vice-Chancellors. The appointments were confirmed during a special meeting held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba will serve as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration. Having joined the university in 2012, Professor Jimba brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Head of Department, Director of the Centre for Ilorin Manuscripts, and Dean of Student Affairs. His extensive involvement in state educational initiatives includes serving as Chairman of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board and Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, a position he was appointed to by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in 2023.
Professor Olubukola Christianah Dada will assume the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics. A Professor of Intellectual and Developmental Disability in the Department of Special Education, Professor Dada has been with Kwara State University since 2014. Her significant roles include Director of the Undergraduate Research Center, Deputy Director of KWASU Press and Publishing, and Director of the Centre for Disability Support. Her dedication to academic excellence and support for students with disabilities has been a hallmark of her career.
Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, Acting Director of University Relations, expressed optimism about the new appointments. She highlighted the potential for positive changes in the university’s administration and academic environment under the new leadership.
