Kwara State University Hosts International Conference on Arts and Humanity

Kwara State University's Faculty of Arts, in collaboration with the African Studies Institute, University of Oklahoma, USA, and Abdul Hamid Abu Sulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, recently hosted an international conference themed "The Arts and the Advancement of Humanity."

The conference, which took place from July 7 to 11, 2025, featured prominent speakers, including Professor S. Ademola Ajayi, who delivered a keynote address on "The Humanities in the Age of Globalisation: Which way forward?"

Other notable speakers included Professor AbdulRasheed Abiodun Adeoye, who presented a lead paper on "The Post(s) of Humanity in the Humanities," and Assistant Professor Thomas R. Fenn, who presented a lead paper on "Durbi Takusheyi, an Example of Past and Present in Nigerian Cultural Identity and Heritage."

The conference was declared open by Kwara State University's Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba.
