KWASU VC Reaffirms University’s Commitment to Innovative and Holistic Healthcare Delivery

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has restated the University’s commitment to advancing innovative healthcare initiatives designed to address the evolving health needs of society.

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has restated the University’s commitment to advancing innovative healthcare initiatives designed to address the evolving health needs of society.

Professor Jimoh made the assertion on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, during the 3rd graduation ceremony and inauguration of the 4th set of executive trainees of the Centre for Complementary and Alternative Therapy (CCAT).

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the Centre plays a strategic role in bridging the gap between orthodox medical practice and complementary and alternative therapies, thereby strengthening healthcare delivery through evidence-based and holistic approaches. He noted that KWASU remains focused on producing skilled professionals capable of responding to contemporary wellness challenges using scientifically grounded alternative therapies.

Professor Jimoh congratulated the 55 graduands of the third cohort on the successful completion of their training and formally welcomed members of the fourth cohort, expressing confidence that they would serve as effective ambassadors of the University and contribute meaningfully to healthcare advancement.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board, Centre for Complementary and Alternative Therapy, Professor Emmanuel Ajani, represented by Professor Olayiwola Olorisade, disclosed that the graduating trainees had been adequately equipped with the requisite knowledge and practical skills to deliver alternative health therapies professionally.

He further revealed that following the success recorded at the Ilorin office of the Centre, plans were underway to establish additional CCAT centres at Malete and other KWASU campuses. He added that the Board was also exploring strategic collaborations with relevant institutions and regulatory agencies to strengthen the Centre’s impact and reach.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Centre, Mallam Abdurrauf Yusuf, explained that beyond research and capacity development in complementary and alternative medicine, the Centre is actively involved in the production of health-support products, including spices, honey, and other wellness-enhancing items aimed at promoting healthy living.

The event underscored KWASU’s growing emphasis on innovation-driven healthcare education and its commitment to integrating alternative therapies into mainstream health and wellness frameworks.
