Lagos State Governor Praises LASU Management at 27th Convocation, Awards N10 Million to Best Graduating Student
The ceremony celebrated the graduation of 11,195 students from various academic programs, including 554 diploma students, 8,477 undergraduate students, and 2,164 postgraduate students. Among the undergraduates, 153 earned First Class honors.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State commended the leadership of Lagos State University (LASU) during the 27th convocation ceremony, highlighting the institution's sustained peace and developmental progress. Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, LASU has experienced smooth and uninterrupted academic operations, earning accolades as the best state university in Nigeria.
In his address at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the critical role of education in societal development and lauded LASU's commitment to maintaining academic excellence. "It is our responsibility to ensure our educational system remains relevant and effective in solving societal problems," he said.

Sanwo-Olu also reiterated his administration's commitment to supporting students in state-owned tertiary institutions, aiming to nurture innovative thinkers and future leaders. He praised the graduating students for their dedication and urged them to continue striving for excellence.

The governor also announced a N10 million cash award for the best graduating student, Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, from the Accounting Education Department, who achieved a CGPA of 4.98. "This is a moment of great pride, not just for you, but for all of us," Sanwo-Olu said.
The event underscored LASU's ongoing contributions to education and development, with the governor committing to further investments in university infrastructure and student welfare.
