LASU Celebrates 27th Convocation, Congratulates Graduating Students

The Lagos State University (LASU), is holding its 27th Convocation ceremony for the award of degrees and diploma today, Wednesday, June 5th. Professor Ibiyemi extended her congratulations to the students for their academic achievements and dedication. She commended them for successfully completing their journey. She expressed her confidence in the students’ abilities to navigate a world in constant change, shaped by evolving technologies and plagued by existential challenges.

The Lagos State University (LASU), is holding its  27th Convocation ceremony for the award of degrees and diploma today, Wednesday, June 5th. The University congratulates their graduating students. 

This information was shared by the university administration in a statement. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, was quoted saying, "It is with great delight that I welcome you all to Lagos State University, Nigeria’s best and the most subscribed state university. Today marks the special occasion of the university’s 27th Convocation Ceremony for the awards of Diplomas, First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas and Master’s Degrees.”

Professor Ibiyemi extended her congratulations to the students for their academic achievements and dedication. She commended them for successfully completing their journey. "I also congratulate our graduating students for years of hardworking and unrelenting pursuit of academic excellence and commitment to learning. You deserve our collective applause for your accomplishments on the journey you commenced four, five or six years ago, depending on your course of study.”

She further stated, “The holy book says better is the end of a thing than the beginning. Your sense of achievement today bears eloquent testimony to this truism. This is particularly apt considering that not all of your colleagues who commenced this journey with you could finish it for one reason or another. But today, having come this far, your sense of pride and fulfilment is justified as you luxuriate in your academic gowns, the symbol of your collective achievement. You deserve to hold your heads high and be proud of yourselves."

She expressed her confidence in the students’ abilities to navigate a world in constant change, shaped by evolving technologies and plagued by existential challenges. "I am confident that you have the requisite knowledge to take you through the challenges of a world in constant flux, shaped by evolving technologies; a world plagued by existential challenges. Yet, these challenges also offer abundant opportunities to demonstrate your creativity, resourcefulness, resilience and adaptability to difficult situations, no matter the odds. I am confident that this university has given you all you need to succeed in the world", she added.
