LASU Collaborates to Launch Enhanced E-Learning Portal for GNS Courses

Lagos State University (LASU) has launched an enhanced e-Learning platform for General Nigerian Studies (GNS) courses, in collaboration with the Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS) and the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).

 The Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS) at Lagos State University (LASU) has collaborated with the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) to launch an upgraded e-Learning platform. This initiative aims to improve the learning experience and address space constraints for the large number of students enrolled in General Nigerian Studies (GNS) courses. The platform supports the hybrid teaching model as outlined in the CCMAS and BMAS curricula.

The e-Learning portal, launched on Monday, June 25, 2024, currently hosts courses GNS 104, GNS 112, GNS 212, and GNS 312. It is designed to complement physical classes by providing online access to course materials, video lessons, and quizzes.

Guidelines for Accessing the E-Learning Platform:

  1. Access the Portal:

  2. Login Page:

    • If the login page is not displayed, click on the login link at the top right corner of the site.
  3. Login Credentials:

    • Enter your Matriculation Number in the Username textbox.
    • Enter your Surname in CAPITAL letters in the Password textbox.
  4. Dashboard:

    • After logging in, you will see a list of all courses you are enrolled in (e.g., GNS 112).
  5. Access Course Content:

    • Click on the desired course to access the content.
  6. Weekly Activities:

    • Courses are arranged in a weekly format with the following activities:
      • Weekly Lesson (Text)
      • Weekly Video Lesson
      • Weekly Quiz

Important Notes:

  1. Weekly Lesson Access:

    • Lesson notes for a particular week become accessible at 12:00 midnight on the first day of that week.
  2. Sequential Access:

    • Lesson notes for subsequent weeks cannot be accessed until the preceding week's notes have been reviewed.

Steps to Access Weekly Content:

  1. Weekly Lessons:

    • Select the course from the dashboard.
    • Select the appropriate week.
    • Click on the Weekly Lesson note to access it.
  2. Weekly Video Lessons:

    • Select the course from the dashboard.
    • Select the appropriate week.
    • Click on the Weekly Video Lesson note to view the video.
  3. Weekly Quizzes:

    • Select the course from the dashboard.
    • Select the appropriate week.
    • Click on the Weekly Quiz.
    • If the quiz is available, click on "Attempt Quiz Now" to start.

Continuous Assessment (CA):

Both visits to the platform and attempts on the weekly quizzes constitute Continuous Assessment for each student.
