The university administration envisions that this initiative will transform LASUSTECH into a highly competitive, globally-acclaimed, and world-class institution.In February 2023, the university admitted 2,600 students into 36 different programs, and it has recently gained approval for three additional programs in Insurance, Hotel and Tourism Management, and Chemical Engineering. LASUSTECH is actively collaborating with members of the Lagos State Government to find solutions to the state's priority problems.

LASUSTECH Develops Initiative to Tackle Societal Challenges

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology, located in Ikorodu, Lagos, has announced the development of a strategic initiative called "IMPACT." This initiative aims to address various societal challenges through a focused approach.

The institution's statement outlines six key areas that the "IMPACT" vision will target:

1. Infrastructural development

2. Manpower development

The university's dedication to addressing environmental issues was evident when it marked the 2023 World Environmental Day with the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution." Additionally, LASUSTECH's Secondary School students received education on converting waste into wealth. The College of Agriculture organized a workshop on preventing and controlling Anthrax in July 2023, collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture to vaccinate cattle against the disease.

LASUSTECH is also focusing on the development of its academic staff through seminars, training, and conference participation. This approach aims to enhance teaching, research, and problem-solving capabilities. An innovative aspect of the university's curriculum is the involvement of field practitioners, contributing to the production of graduates who can offer solutions and are fit for the job market. The institution is planning to introduce new programs in marine science, rail technology, and environmental management to align with the emerging trends in making Lagos a better place.
