At the 9th International Conference of the LAUTECH Nanotechnology Research Group, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, disclosed that five of the top 20 nanotechnology scholars in Nigeria are from LAUTECH—a performance metric that firmly places the University at the forefront of nanotech research in the country.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics and Innovation), Professor Dauda Araromi, the VC noted that the Group’s sustained excellence in research, publications, training, and mentorship has led to the establishment of the first Journal of Nanotechnology in sub-Saharan Africa, underscoring LAUTECH’s pioneering contributions to the discipline.

He emphasized the strategic importance of collaboration among researchers, stressing that joint efforts are essential for generating impactful ideas and solutions that advance both academic inquiry and societal development.
In his remarks, the leader of the Nanotechnology Research Group, Professor Agbaje Lateef, expressed appreciation to the University for hosting the conference. He assured participants that the conference deliberations would be distilled into a communiqué for policymakers, aimed at supporting scientific progress and improving the quality of life across communities.
