McPherson University Hosts NUC Accreditation Team for B.Sc. Finance Programme

McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, welcomed a delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to evaluate its B.Sc. Finance programme for accreditation.

The assessment team was led by Prof. Samaila Idi Ningi of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), alongside Prof. Gladys Nwokoye from the University of Benin and Mr. Damilola A. from the NUC. Their visit focused on assessing the programme’s compliance with NUC’s minimum academic standards, including curriculum delivery, staff qualifications, and available facilities.
Prof. Ningi emphasized that the accreditation was part of routine quality assurance. “We are here to assess the resources available and ensure they meet NUC standards and guidelines. Our role is to identify what is on ground and verify its alignment with the Commission’s expectations,” he explained.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Francis Igbasan welcomed the team, reiterating the University’s commitment to high-quality academic delivery and openness to suggestions that could enhance programme excellence.
During the visit, the NUC team conducted a comprehensive tour of facilities, engaged with faculty and students, and reviewed academic documentation to evaluate the programme’s adherence to national standards.
