McPherson University Matriculates 551 Students, Emphasizes Values and Excellence

The 551 matriculating students of McPherson University have been urged to embrace godly values and academic excellence as they embark on their journey at the faith-based institution. The call to uphold these principles was made during the university's 12th matriculation ceremony held at its campus in Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State.

The ceremony saw the matriculation of students from various academic disciplines, including Humanities, Social and Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Computing, Law, Continuing Education (part-time), and Postgraduate Studies.

Professor Francis Igbasan, the Vice Chancellor of the university, expressed satisfaction with the increased enrollment of students compared to previous years. He emphasized the university's commitment to nurturing students for excellence, integrity, and service to society.

Addressing the matriculating students, Professor Igbasan highlighted the importance of embracing the institution's culture, values, and virtues. He stressed the role of education in making a positive difference in society and encouraged students to take their relationship with God seriously.

The Vice Chancellor also reiterated the university's zero-tolerance policy towards social vices such as sexual immorality, drug abuse, and examination malpractices. He emphasized the importance of adherence to the university's rules and regulations to maintain discipline and academic integrity.

Mr. Olufemi Adebowale, the acting registrar of the university, advised the new students to familiarize themselves with the student handbook and adhere to its provisions. He also underscored the significance of signing the matriculation oath as a symbol of commitment to the university's values and principles.

In addition to the academic proceedings, the ceremony featured the inaugural edition of the Vice Chancellor's Cup football match, further fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among students.
