Melissa Williams, a 42-year-old African American mother from San Antonio, Texas, has accomplished the extraordinary feat of enrolling her three daughters in college before they even reached the age of 15. The daughters, all scholars, are pursuing their education at Miles College, an esteemed Historically Black College and University (HBCU), where they have earned scholarships to support their academic journeys.
Williams, who affectionately refers to her household as the "Godly House," is the devoted mother of six children, including five daughters and one son. She has taken her role as a mother to heart, viewing it as a divine calling. Williams has been deeply involved in her children's education, homeschooling her eldest daughter, Ate'sia, and her son, Isaac. She customized their curriculums to match their individual strengths and talents.
Alana, Williams' eldest daughter, graduated in 2021, displaying exceptional aptitude in online studies and receiving multiple university offers. Williams made the decision to enroll Alana at Miles College, strategically located near family members in Birmingham, Alabama. Remarkably, with a 3.7 GPA, Alana began her college journey at the age of 14, majoring in biology pre-med.
"I could say that I was really surprised in myself that I did it based on where everybody else’s journey was," Alana expressed.
Following in Alana's footsteps, Aniyah excelled in her studies, graduating at the tender age of 13 with a 3.0 GPA. She joined her sister at Miles College, where she is pursuing a major in business/pre-law. Despite her young age, Aniyah easily integrated into the college environment, aided by her height, which made her blend in with her peers.
"People think that since I graduated at 13, I had to be some child genius or a child prodigy," Aniyah explained. "But I’m just as smart as the next person."
Most recently, Adina graduated and, at the age of 14, joined her sisters at Miles College with a 3.5 GPA. She embarked on her college journey as a political science major.
"I was always known to be, like, the stupid kid and the weirdo. So I didn’t think I could really do it," Adina admitted. "It was always because of my weight and because of the questions I would ask."
Throughout this extraordinary educational journey, their mother provided unwavering support, navigating the challenges posed by the distance separating them.
"It was definitely scary and challenging. And it took a lot of prayer and God’s direction and faith," Melissa Williams shared.
The Williams sisters attribute their remarkable achievements to their mother's unwavering faith in God and her unshakable belief in a brighter future, even during periods of homelessness. Today, they are thriving academically and engaging in extracurricular activities as they aspire to make a significant impact on their college campus. They also hold hopes that their youngest sister, Aubriella, currently 9 years old, may one day follow in their accomplished footsteps.
This extraordinary story of determination, faith, and academic excellence exemplifies the remarkable achievements of the Williams family, as they demonstrate that with dedication and unwavering support, dreams can be realized even at a young age.
