Nasarawa State University Inaugurates Committee to Investigate SUG Election Crisis, Calls for Memoranda
The university has also invited staff, students, and concerned members of the community to submit memoranda providing relevant information about the incident
Following the student unrest that occurred after the Students Union Government (SUG) elections on September 4, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, has inaugurated a High Powered Committee to investigate the incident.
The committee, inaugurated on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, has been given two weeks to submit its findings. Its mandate includes investigating the causes of the crisis, identifying the key players, assessing the damage to university property, and determining any internal or external involvement.
The university has also invited staff, students, and concerned members of the community to submit memoranda providing relevant information about the incident. A circular signed by the Registrar, Dr. Bala Isyaka Ahmed II, stated that all submissions must be made to the Registrar's office, the Information and Protocol Officer, or the Vice-Chancellor’s office by Friday, September 13, 2024.
The move is aimed at preventing future occurrences and ensuring proper measures are taken to maintain order in the university.
