Nasarawa State University Suspends Student Union Elections Amidst Tensions

The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has suspended the Students Union Government elections, which were held on September 4, 2024, due to disruptions and tensions.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman announced the suspension on September 5, 2024, during a meeting with contending aspirants in the Senate Chamber. She expressed management's displeasure over the outcome of the inconclusive elections and emphasized the need to calm frayed nerves and prevent a breakdown of law and order.

An investigative committee will be established to probe the causes of the disruptions, and security agencies are working to ensure peace and order on campus. The Vice-Chancellor urged aspirants to promote peace and order among their supporters.

Aspirants Osome Babangida and Ridwan Ahmed Barade apologized for the unruly behavior of some supporters and assured the Vice-Chancellor of their commitment to maintaining peace and order.
