The Nigerian Defence Academy has announced that the NDA Graduates 10 Military personnel On Drone Operators Course 1, myschoolnews reporting.

As part of human capacity building to meet the demand of technological driven society, the Nigerian Defence Academy has trained the first batch of Drone Operators. The graduation ceremony was held today 3 March 2023, at the Academy Drill Shed, Afaka.

A total number of ten Operators, across the 3 arms of service underwent the 2-week intensive training session as members of Drone Operators Course 1 and were subsequently issued certificates after their successful graduation. The graduands who are all military personnel were drawn from DICT, APRD and 37 NDA Demo Battalion. During the duration of the course,they all received training on two types of drones, namely Mavis2 and Pentium4.

Delivering his opening remarks at the graduation ceremony, the Director of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), Air Cdre FCS Uwakara, spoke on the significance of Drone Technology in NDA during POP and security surveillance in military operations.

He thanked the Comdt NDA, Maj Gen IM Yusuf, for approving of fund for the purchase of modern drones and equipment in DICT. He added that the training of more drone operators is aimed at providing the trainees the opportunity of learning a relevant skill in the modern era and also to meet the high demand of such services among the various departments in the NDA and the Armed Forces in general.

The Guest of Honour (GOH), at the event, Commandant NDA, Maj Gen IM Yusuf, who was represented by the Deputy Commandant, AVM OR Abidoye, expressed delight and enjoined the graduands not to relent on learning more on their own. He encouraged the DICT to sustain the training, even as he congratulated the graduands.

Present at the event were the Academy Provost, Deans of PGS/Faculties, senior military officers and other civilian staff of the Academy.

The high points of the ceremony included demonstrations by the trainee operators and group photographs.
