Hajia Fatima Abiola-Popoola, Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kwara State, has proposed mandatory drug testing for incoming university students as an admission requirement.

She suggested this measure during a radio show in Ilorin, emphasizing its role in early intervention and guidance for drug users to prevent severe addiction.

Abiola-Popoola also highlighted the rising number of drug users in Nigeria, citing a 2018 survey that reported 14.3 million drug users in the country. She noted that one in seven Nigerians uses drugs, and among these users, one in four is a woman, underscoring the critical role women play as home managers.
