New President Takes Reins of Rivers State University Medical Students’ Association

A new era of leadership officially began for the Rivers State University Medical Students’ Association (RiSUMSA) following the formal inauguration of its new President on Saturday, January 17, 2026. 

The ceremony, held at the Faculty of Clinical Sciences Auditorium, was attended by a cross-section of medical students, faculty staff, and outgoing student leaders. In an emotional address, the newly inaugurated President described the moment as a reflection of the collective trust of the student body and a commitment to a "stronger, more student-centered association." 

The new administration has outlined a vision built on three core pillars:

Service: Prioritizing the welfare and academic needs of medical students.

Structure: Strengthening the administrative framework of the association.

Progress: Advancing the reputation of RiSUMSA within the university and the broader medical community.

The President expressed gratitude to the outgoing leadership for their foundation-building work and called for unity among "RiSUMSAites" to ensure the success of the 2025/2026 academic session. 

"This moment is bigger than me," the President stated. "The work begins now. For the students. Always."

The inauguration marks a pivotal transition as the association prepares for a new year of clinical excellence and student advocacy.
