Niger State Partners with FUTMINNA to Enhance Agricultural Development

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has announced a partnership with the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) aimed at transforming the state into an agricultural hub in West Africa. The governor disclosed this collaboration during the 31st and 32nd combined Convocation and Founder's Day celebrations of FUTMINNA.

Governor Bago emphasized the significance of science and technology in driving development, particularly in the context of the "New Niger Agenda" of his administration. With Niger State boasting of vast arable land and water resources, the partnership with FUT Minna aims to leverage technology and agriculture to enhance economic prospects and ensure food security.

The initiative seeks to intensify research in areas such as renewable energy, urban renewal, and eco-friendly approaches, aligning with the vision of the state government to stimulate the economy and engage youth effectively. Additionally, the government plans to establish new universities focusing on agriculture, climate action, technology, and innovation to further support the New Niger agenda.

Professor Faruk Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of FUT Minna, highlighted the university's achievements in research and innovation, underscoring its competency in attracting funding and international recognition.

The event, attended by dignitaries including representatives of President Bola Tinubu and members of the State Executive Council, signifies a significant step towards harnessing technological advancements for agricultural development in Niger State.
