Nigerian Defence Academy Directors Honored with New Ranks in Prestigious Ceremony

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) recently celebrated a significant milestone as four of its directors were decorated with their new ranks in a centralized investiture ceremony.

The event, held at the Army Headquarters Command Mess WU Bassey, was attended by distinguished guests, including Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General CG Musa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, and Senate Committee Chairman on Army Senator Abdulazeez Yar'adua.

 

During the ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. OO Oluyede, congratulated the promoted officers, emphasizing the importance of leadership, discipline, and hard work. He encouraged them to continue serving Nigeria with excellence and dedication. The Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, also commended the officers, highlighting their commitment to the nation's security and well-being.

The promoted directors include Brigadier General OA Awolo, who was decorated with the insignia of Major General by Major General JO Ochai, Commandant of the NDA, alongside Mrs. Awolo. The Director of Finance, Brigadier General TT Siddick, received his new rank from the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. OO Oluyede.

Additionally, Commodore YS Idris was decorated to Rear Admiral at the Naval Headquarters, with Major General Ochai and Mrs. Idris officiating the decoration. Commodore DM Ndanusa, the Director of Administration, was also honored by Dr. Kana and Mrs. Ndanusa.

 

The promotions are a testament to the NDA's commitment to excellence and its role in shaping the future of Nigeria's military leaders. As the NDA celebrates its 60th anniversary, this occasion serves as a reminder of the academy's rich history and tradition of producing exceptional officers.¹
