Miss Faith Odunsi, a 15-year-old Nigerian student, has been crowned the "Mathematics Queen" by the National Mathematics Centre of Nigeria (NMC) for her exceptional performance in the National Olympiads Competition. Faith represented Nigeria at the Global Mathematics Competition and emerged as the world's best mathematics student, surpassing contestants from 193 countries, including China, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.*

Recalling her experience, Faith mentioned that the initial stages of the competition were challenging as she adapted to the format. The competition included a computer-based test where participants had to answer numerous questions within one hour. Faith scored 66 in both the first and second stages. The quarter and semi-finals utilized Microsoft themes, where questions were posed, and competitors provided answers, with the first to provide the correct response earning 10 points.

Miss Faith Odunsi's accomplishment was celebrated by Professor Peter Onumanyi, Deputy Director of the NMC, who emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent in mathematical sciences and stimulating the interest of Nigerian students in science subjects.
