Nigerian Institute of Architects Visits ABU Vice-Chancellor
The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) delegation, led by its President, Arch. Mobolaji A. Adeniyi, FNIA, visited Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, to appreciate the institution’s impact on their professional journey.

A delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) has visited Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, to express their appreciation for the institution’s role in shaping their professional journey. The team, led by NIA President, Arch. Mobolaji A. Adeniyi, FNIA, met with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, during their visit.
Speaking during the visit, Arch. Mobolaji emphasized the significant impact ABU had on their lives and careers, acknowledging the University's contributions to architectural education in Nigeria. He noted that the visit was a way of giving back to their alma mater while fostering continued collaboration between the institution and the NIA.
Earlier, the Dean of Environmental Design, Prof. Abubakar Abdullahi, announced that the NIA had introduced a special award for the ‘Best M.Sc. Students in Design.’ The initiative aims to elevate the standard of architectural education at ABU and encourage excellence among students in the Department of Architecture.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, lauded the NIA’s gesture, particularly in honoring the first Professor of Architecture. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering partnerships with professionals and alumni in advancing research and development.
Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim also assured the visiting team that ABU remains open to collaborations that will enhance education and innovation within and beyond the university community. He wished the delegation a productive and rewarding visit to the campus.
